About the role:
Ampere is looking for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to support our US managers and employee-base. This role is employee-facing, will represent the People & Culture Global Partnering team in Santa Clara and provides the first line support to employees and managers. In this role, you will partner with People & Culture Business Partners and business leaders to deliver timely, positive employee relations guidance and solutions across the company. You will lead sensitive and confidential internal reviews regarding employee relations matters, owning the process end to end. You will provide performance management guidance and coaching to managers, while supporting employees through the performance management process. As a key member of the US People & Culture Business Partner team, you will also get a chance to project manage P&C initiatives, as needs arise. In addition, you will act as the Santa Clara site representative of our People & Culture Business Partnering team and will engage in ad-hoc employee consultation, management coaching, employee engagement and culture work to support the overall organizational health of the site.
This position will be based onsite in our Santa Clara office.
What you’ll achieve:
- Customer Focus: As the on-site presence in Santa Clara for the Global Partnering Team, you will be engaged with employees on a day-to-day basis, answering questions and guiding them to the right place or through the right process resolve their questions and concerns.
- Strategize & Implement: Implement the development, iteration and execution of thoughtful employee relations strategies and solutions aligned with company goals and values.
- Employee Relations Problem Solving Excellence: Meet directly with employees and leaders to address employee relations issues and concerns; conduct thorough reviews into and examinations of employee concerns and issues, and prepare detailed summaries, recommendations and action plans, and implement effective solutions.
- Collaboration & Partnership: Partner effectively with People & Culture Business Partners, legal counsel, and organizational leaders to address complex employee relations issues. This involves coordinating on policy implementation, ensuring legal compliance, resolving disputes, and fostering a positive work environment through collaborative solutions and strategic initiatives.
- Accommodations Expert: Advise on health, religious and other accommodations, escalating as necessary.
- Leave of Absence Support: Advise employees on leave entitlements and case manage any complex employee situations requiring individual resolution.
- Trend Analysis: Monitor trends, make recommendations and collaborate with P&C leadership on best practices regarding employee relations.
- Advisory Role: Serve as a P&C advisor in conflict resolution, employee mediation and sensitive situations, using data-driven insights.
- Policy & Compliance: Stay up to date on local & national employment laws and regulations and recommend remedial action plans.
About you:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree & minimum 5 years of related experience; or Master's degree & 3 years in an Employee Relations role
- Confidentiality & Discretion: Candidates must demonstrate a track record of handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of integrity and discretion. This includes ensuring compliance with privacy laws, internal policies and maintaining trust by respecting employee confidentiality in all interactions and communications.
- Investigative Skills: Qualified candidates will be experienced in leading comprehensive investigations into employee concerns and issues. The candidate should be skilled at working with employees and their leaders, adept at gathering relevant facts, interviewing, analyzing findings, and producing thorough and impartial reports that effectively communicate conclusions and recommend actionable solutions.
- Communication Proficiency: The ideal candidate excels in communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from frontline employees to senior executives. This includes the ability to articulate complex employee relations issues clearly and concisely, adapting communication styles to suit different audiences, and negotiating and influencing outcomes that align with organizational goals and values.
- Best Practices & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of current employee relations best practices, as well as compliance with labor laws and regulations. The candidate should stay updated on changes in employment law to advise the organization proactively, ensuring policies and practices meet legal and ethical standards.
- Consultation & Coaching: Demonstrates strong consultation and coaching abilities, empowering managers and employees to resolve conflicts constructively.
- Legal Knowledge: Well-versed in US and California employment laws. The candidate should be able to interpret legal requirements and apply them practically within the organization, minimizing risk and supporting fair treatment in employment practices.
- Empathy & Communication: Possesses empathetic listening and communication skills, essential for managing sensitive or emotional situations with employees. The candidate should be able to convey understanding and support while guiding conversations towards productive resolutions.
- Customer Orientation: Understands and anticipates customer needs, providing timely and accurate information, and ensuring a positive experience throughout all interactions. Adept at building relationships and maintaining a service-focused mindset to enhance satisfaction and foster trust within the organization.
- Ambiguity Navigation: Thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments, demonstrating flexibility and initiative in the face of ambiguity.
What we’ll offer:
At Ampere we believe in taking care of our employees and providing a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus (i.e., variable pay tied to internal company goals), long-term incentive, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role is between $109,000 and $181,500. Our benefits include health, wellness, and financial programs that support employees through every stage of life, with full benefits eligibility at 20 hours per week.
