Description
Invent the future with us.
By providing a new level of predictable performance, efficiency, and sustainability Ampere is working with leading cloud suppliers and a growing partner ecosystem to deliver cloud instances, servers and embedded/edge products that can handle the compute demands of today and tomorrow.
Join us at Ampere and work alongside a passionate and growing team — we’d love to have you apply!
About the role:
You will be a part of the Hardware Engineering Team who will be responsible for the design and development of hardware platforms incorporating the latest CPU ARM-64bit Server Technology and State-of-the-art communication components. You will solve a broad range of hardware problems while developing and releasing products internally to Ampere as well as to outside customers. Your tasks include Signal and Power Integrity (SIPI) Simulation, Digital or Analog circuit design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and documenting. You will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with and learn from veteran designers and architects from industry to create a breakthrough design for cloud computing. Our engineers are excited about technology and innovation and channel that energy to deliver world-class products.
The Platform Hardware Engineer needs to have a good knowledge of circuit design, both digital and analog circuits. You should have basic knowledge of the protocol of the I2C, SPI, UART, then it can help you trouble shoot the issue with the scope to measure. You also need to have a good knowledge of the power design of Bulk, Boost switching regulator, calculating to select the Inductor, and Capacitor input, output needed for the design. You also be able to use the simulation tool to run the power simulation to make sure the circuit design is good and coworker with the Layout team to make sure the power plane layout is good without the issue. You also will run the signal simulation tool to check and optimize the layout to ensure the Signal Integrity in the design, especially with the high-speed signal like DDR & PCIE.
What you’ll achieve:
- Design and develop digital circuits for hardware products.
- Evaluate and select digital/analog hardware components based on performance, cost and feature tradeoffs.
- Perform schematic capture and work with CAD engineers to do component placement and Printed Circuit Board layout.
- Coordinate directly with contract manufacturers to develop Printed Circuit Board fabrication and assembly.
- Define and develop hardware test plans to ensure that the hardware meets performance and functional requirements.
- Coordinate project deliverable with Marketing, Diagnostic, Software, and ASIC team leaders.
- Min 5+ years of digital hardware design experience.
- Experience with a complete product development cycle is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with OrCAD schematic capture and Allegro PCB Design tools are preferred.
- Experience in Signal and Power Integrity (SIPI) Simulation tools like Hyperlynx, Cadence Sigrity, and ADS are preferred.
- Experience in the power regulator design and measure, characterizing the power rail are preferred.
- Experience with high speed I/O designs: SATA, PCI Express, DDR3, DDR4, DDR5, USB20, USB30, Gigabit Ethernet is a plus.
- Good communication skills in English and Vietnamese
- BS/MS/ Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering/Computer Engineering or Equivalent
