About the Role:
As a Principal AI / CPU Architectural Design Verification Engineer, you will be a key member of the design verification team at Ampere to deliver our high-quality next generation AI integrated, cloud-native server class SoCs. You will be responsible for defining verification strategies and architecting solutions for complex verification problems while leveraging AI models. You will partner with stakeholders in adjacent domains and enable verification teams for bug hunting and meet verification goals on schedule. You'll be involved with all aspects of product development starting with specifications through tape-out and product launch.
What You'll Achieve:
- Design and debug core-level and CPU architectural test benches, including functional models and RTL design.
- Write and generate assembly language tests, debug failures, and evaluate design coverage at both unit and chip levels.
- Conduct CPU architectural and micro-architectural level verification, ensuring thorough functional coverage.
- Define block-level and full-chip software environments for server-class microprocessor-based SoCs with a focus on security, AI features, multi-core, and coherency.
- Implement and debug test benches, verification environments, and post-silicon system level failures.
- Design CPU random test generators and/or C++ simulators..
- Mentor junior engineers.
About you:
- 6+ years (with MS) experience with complex software projects, including design verification methodology, random test generator development or instruction set simulator design.
- 3 years of CPU Architecture and Micro-Architecture know-how
- Expertise in C++, Python and assembly language programming
- Deep understanding of CPU Architectural concepts.
- 6+ years’ experience in test bench development.
- Solid understanding of high-performance multi-core processor architecture and microarchitecture, especially OOO memory and cache coherency protocols
- Skilled in developing and implementing test benches, building regression infrastructure
- Proficient in debugging failures and evaluating design coverage
- Additional skills highly desired: Knowledge and/or exposure to AI Large Language Models (LLM) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) models
Education:
- BS degree & 8 years of related experience; MS degree & 6 years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field

The full base pay range for this role is between $146,300 and $243,800.
