About the role: 

Ampere is looking for a dynamic and energetic Director of AI Platform Architecture to join our growing team.  In this role, you will develop and execute near and long-term strategies and technologies to drive the delivery of Ampere-based AI platforms. This is a high visibility, high impact role at Ampere that offers significant growth opportunity and will report to Ampere’s Global Senior Director of Platform Engineering.

What you’ll achieve: 
 
  • Design and develop Ampere AI Server Platform specifications and perform technology comparisons to recommend the best solutions and vendor selections.
  • Develop and drive strategic decisions for Ampere's AI Platform design. 
  • Conduct and analyze performance benchmarks, comparing our system platforms against those of competitors, to identify areas of improvement and maintain Ampere’s competitive edge in the market.
  • Research new system design technologies and perform in-depth market research to keep Ampere ahead of industry trends.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of designs to guide validation and testing plans, ensuring the highest quality standards.
  • This role will include collaborating and negotiating with server OEM/ODM’s and will play a crucial part in shaping the future of AI server technology.
About you: 
 
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15+ years overall relevant experience to include 5 years designing data center server platforms
  • You bring 2+ years of industry experience designing and delivering AI Server Platform architectures.
  • Deep experience with ARM (or x86) architectures, storage, and server CPU solutions.
  • Your expertise should include a comprehensive understanding of AI workloads and hardware deployments. Moreover, you should possess strong knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning, with experience using popular frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Llama.cpp, and vLLM.
  • You bring a deep understanding of server architecture to include NICs, Linux, system software, and kernel drivers.
  • Knowledge of DevOps/MLOps technologies such as Docker/containers and Kubernetes is also essential for this role.
  • Knowledge of data center liquid cooling systems
  • You are passionate about leading edge technology and eager to build “What Comes Next”. 
  • You excel at working in cross-functional team environments, demonstrating strong collaboration and communication skills to effectively deliver outstanding results.
  • Past experience working with server OEM/ODM’s.
